DESCRIPTION:
France, an unusual, five minute repeating carriage clock with single gong, gilt Corniche case with bevelled glasses, Roman numeral white enamel dial, blued steel distaff hands, 8 day, time and strike movement with lever platform, counting the hours in passing, repeating the hours when activated by top pusher, and repeating the last five minute interval through the pusher at case back
CONDITION:
case dirty and lacking gilding, glasses good, dial and hands good, movement running, striking, and repeating correctly, gong abraded and with minor oxide, an unusual clock. Because this clock has a single gong, the hour and five minute functions are activated by separate pushers, otherwise the hour and five minute interval would be indistinguishable. See lot 872 for another five minute repeating carriage clock, employing one pusher, and sounding on two gongs.
